If You Can Play on Tempo, You Are Welcome

Why This Matters

You only get better with practice; I want to extend to you those same opportunities that were afforded to me.

How You Achieve Success

Participate!

Understand the traditions--the tribal knowledge--of the drum circles (shared in this section).

You have to be able to play the dooms on tempo, and not late; see the page about playing on tempo.

What You Do

  1. There are a lot of dynamics to the drum circles; the more of those circles in which you play, the better you'll understand those dynamics.
  2. Those of us who have the skills to play counter rhythms and accent-only drumming need the drum circle to hold itself together while playing those. The more drummers that we have in the community who are skilled and experienced, the more chances there are for us to move away from the main rhythm to those counters and accents.
  3. Some of us have been at this for a very long time, are getting older, and won't be able to do this forever; we need to help the next generation of drum circle leaders.
